Ben Rimes

Blogger, Podcaster, Education Nerd, University of Michigan Interactive Communications & Simulations Group Fellow, Adjunct Professor of Educational Technology at Michigan State University, and creator of fine GIFs and viral videos. Ben Rimes believes that play is the heart of the human condition, and allowing simulations, tinkering, games, and playfulness flourish in the classroom is paramount to a fertile learning environment.

Sara Beauchamp-Hicks
& Kristen Kochheiser

Sara Beauchamp-Hicks is the leader for Educational Technology and Professional Development for tinkrEDU in Okemos, Michigan. With over 20 years of classroom experience from the elementary to the university level, she is always working to create engaging, meaningful learning environments for children. Sara started her teaching career in the field of Special Education and then took a short hiatus to help raise her children. Most recently, She worked with her Waverly colleagues to create makerspaces. Building on the idea that makerspaces can connect content, curriculum and learning in meaningful ways, Sara believes in the Maker Mindset and all the positive ways it can influence student growth and development. She and her husband, Troy, live in St. Johns and have blended their family, resulting in six wonderful kiddos, five of which are still at home.

Kristin Kochheiser is a 6th grade ELA/SS teacher at Waverly East Intermediate. She is enjoying her 11th year of teaching, and moderates #6thchat on Tuesdays at 9EST weekly. Kochheiser is a technology leader in her district where the district enjoys 1:1 technology. She holds masters' degrees in Language Arts and Public Relations. In her life before teaching, she was a fundraiser for the Capital Area United Way, Impression 5 and the American Red Cross.
